Bruges

After we landed in Amsterdam, Jenny and I were taken by chauffeur to Bruges, Belgium. We spent the next three days exploring this once flourishing world market. This medieval city reached its zenith in the 15'th century. Today it is a UNESCO world heritage site.

This tower was begun in the 14'th century and completed in 1483. We climbed the 366 steps to the top. It has 47 bells and is one of the most famous carillons in Europe. Note the cobblestone streets and small shops that line this street.

We really enjoyed watching the many horse drawn carriages transporting guests in Bruges. Jenny recorded some video of several carriages because the sounds of the horse hoofs striking the cobblestone streets was so distinct and pleasing to our ears.
