Bodie, CA

Bodie is a California gold mining ghost town which had its heyday in the 1880's after the discovery of the Comstock Lode in Virginia City, Nevada. It boasted 65 saloons and was known for its wickedness and badmen. Killings occurred almost daily. The remaining buildings were designated a state historic park in 1962 and it is now maintained in a state of "arrested decay".

The tank on the right supplied the steam to run the engine in the middle that was used to move the huge weight in the background that broke up the rock in the mining process.
