On March 30 I attended a photoworkshop in San Francisco with 13 other photo enthusiasts. The workshop was sponsored by Aperture Academy - a business located in Campbell, CA. We started Saturday afternoon at 12:30 and ended around 9 that evening.

  • This photo is taken from Baker Beach north of the Golden Gate Bridge. I really like the colors and contrast in this picture. I also like capturing the young people on the rocks off to the right of the photo. One can see two fishing poles on the rocks, some aspiring photographers to the left of the poles, and another couple of young people sitting on the rocks above. Fort Point is located beneath the arch structure on the south entrance of the bridge. It was built in the 1860's to protect the bay.

  • This hallway is on the second floor of Fort Point. The exposure was about 6 seconds long. I was not able to take a photo without someone being in the hallway (notice the blur in the middle of the hallway).

  • This rock stairway was challenging to photograph due to the ambient light from the window on the right and the light bulbs on the left. I like the detail and symmetry of this shot.

  • This is a self portrait of me in the powder room of Fort Point. It was a 20 second exposure. I stood perfectly still for 10 seconds and then moved out of the frame for the last 10 seconds. It was a self-timer shot (ten second delay).

  • This is the arch way located on the second floor of the Fort. I guess it was painted white at some point in the past.

  • View of the underside of Golden Gate Bridge from the top of Fort Point. It doesn't look like a mile to the other side of the bay.

  • I really like the detail of this photo of the courtyard of Fort Point. There is a photographer from our group using his tripod in the right lower corner of this picture. I believe the small lighthouse at the other end of the fort was probably some of the original equipment here. Notice how the bridge was built to spare Fort Point.

  • Last sunset shot of the evening. I really like the cloudy flow of the water around the sea stacks with the reflection of light from the sunset.

  • Last shot of the evening of the Golden Gate. The black and white conversion lends a lot of detail for this 30 second exposure.
